Liberalisation in the US – Lessons for Europe?

I was recently invited, at short notice, to give a talk on electricity restructuring in the United States, and the lessons for Europe that might be drawn from experience there. I was fortunate to be able to draw on Paul Joskow’s excellent paper “Markets for Power in the United States: An Interim Assessment”, published in the Energy Journal in 2006 – however, what follows is my own interpretation, particularly when it gets to the lessons for Europe. Powerful presentations in California

Every March, experts on the electricity industry – from academia, government, and the industry itself – converge on the University of California Energy Institute, based in Berkeley, for its annual Power Conference.
